On April 7th, 2024, my husband and I were woken up by a fire that originated from our stove in our kitchen. One of our pets had managed to turn on a burner that had a plastic bin sitting on it, and it pretty quickly caught fire. My husband was able to put out the fire before the fire department arrived, but not before our house was filled with smoke and fire damage. Our insurance connected us with Paul Davis Restoration, where its was determined we would need to completely gut our kitchen, replace our floors, etc. Our first project manager through PDR unfortunately was not a good fit (from what I understand he’s no longer with the company), and we were prepared to try to find a different contractor. However, after voicing our concerns to our estimator, Steve, he offered to reassign us to Lindsay R. We were already having a hell of time working with one of our other fire recovery vendors through our insurance, so we were already super exhausted and stressed by the time Lindsay came for our consultation in early July. All that said, I’m so glad we decided to stay with PDR, and work with Lindsay! We understood that this process could take time due to a million different reasons, but the one thing we wanted was clear and frequent communication so that we knew what was going on with our house. Lindsay delivered on this and then some! She texted us multiple times a week with updates on materials, crews, etc. If a supplier was being difficult, she found another solution that worked for our needs. She saved us money wherever she could, and if we ever had a question or issue, she was very quick to find a solution or answer for us. If you’ve ever been through any type of house disaster, then you probably know that working with insurance and their vendors can be just as traumatizing as the disaster itself. However, I’m so happy to share that Lindsay was one of the few people who helped make this process bearable for us. Oh, AND we got a gorgeous kitchen, updated floors, and more throughout our house! We truly can’t thank Lindsay at Paul Davis Restoration enough for all of her hard work and dedication to our project!
Matt Shepherd the project manager came to my home I have water damage. He was very understanding and knowledgeble. Very polite and friendly. When I text or call Matt he always responds with my questions.
A couple months back we had a significant amount of water in our basement. After calling several different companies Paul Davis was the first to reply. They sent a representative (Nick) out to examine the situation. He was on time, polite and very helpful.
My insurance approved a total of ten thousand and five hundred dollars to have my garage reconstructed in Dayton Ohio in 2020. The person from Paul Davis Restoration named Mark B….. who was in charge of reconstructing my garage… ignored the construction work and compromised my safety and over charged for siding that did not need to be replaced. He made up stories about the foundation might have to be replaced if he had to get an inspection and then he said he would not need an inspection if he didn’t replace the entire right wall. He kept telling me that the insurance would not pay for the foundation if the inspector did not approve the current foundation. The problem with Mark B…. from Paul Davis Restoration's story is that there was clearly nothing wrong with the foundation and my insurance already gave me the first five thousand dollars to have the repair work done. He could had put a portion of the first five thousand dollars to the foundation to be repaired if needed. I told Mark B… from Paul Davis restoration to not try to hook me with any additional cost. I even crossed out on the contract where he tried to hold me responsible for any additional cost. I also put my initials beside it and I wrote on that section that I would NOT be responsible for any additional cost after he received five thousand dollars from me. I made all of this VERY CLEAR before he even began the work. Mark B… was totally unprofessional during this entire process and he even tricked me in signing the completion of work. He sat right on my couch with a smile on his face telling me that I would be getting money back because he did not have time to complete the work but I would have to sign the paper to get the money so I can get the repairs done myself. After I signed the paper I received emails from his office saying he was going to sue me if I did not pay the remaining balance. Mark B…from Paul Davis violated the contract after I made it very clear before he even started any work that I was not responsible for any additional cost. My insurance finally paid the additional cost to Paul Davis Restoration and I have not received anything back from Paul Davis. I have had to pay out of pocket to get the construction repairs done myself. I just found out through one of the mangers in the corporate office…. that Mark B… was terminated. I have called the corporate office multiple times in Florida to get my money back for the materials and for things that I had to pay someone else to do. I have been dealing with this nightmare for over 4 years now. Someone from the corporate office and The Dayton Ohio Office finally reached back out to me but there has still been no resolution yet. The checks were made out to Paul Davis so it is the responsibility of the leaders of Paul Davis Restoration to have reputable franchise owners and reputable staff representing them. It is also the corporate office responsibility to find a way to refund my money since the checks were made out to Paul Davis. I am finding from other reviews that this sort of thing is going on nationwide with Paul Davis Restoration. My pictures that I posted on here show the neglect of construction work on my garage from Paul Davis Restoration.
Paul Davis requested a $1k payment before any work was started. They did not communicate effectively with me . The project managers scheduled appointments but cancelled last minute. I had to repeatedly reach out to them for updates. They were contacted in January ( and paid in January)about the project and was notified today that they couldn't do the work and I would be receiving a check in the mail. Very unprofessional. If it was possible to leave Zero stars I would.
Awesome company! They responded quickly and help us with all of our issues. Very understanding and helpful in our time of need
Long story shot: I had a small fire in my garage and my insurance company referred me to, Paul Davis. Biggest mistake of my life. This company is concerned about saving your insurance money and doing a poor job, than actually restoring your home after one of the worst tragedies of your life. You can explicitly state the items you want replaced and they will blatantly ignore you. House still reeks of smoke because they refused to replace the drywall adjacent to the fire. If, Jason, is your project manager- run as fast as you can. This dude is SHADY. So shady that I called the owner of, Paul Davis, whose name is Brian, less than 24 hours of meeting him to tell him something was "off" with Jason. But the owner assured me his work would be the best I could pay for. And when this all came to a conclusion and I had a meeting with the owner about, Jason, a second time- he wanted to pretend like I never made the first call regarding Jason’s trustworthiness. He eventually remembered. He’s an absolute joke. Not only is their work super shotty… I caught Paul Davis stealing from my home. I actually went out and bought cameras for my house because I just had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right with this company. They were lying to me. Telling me they completed work when they hadn’t. My cameras not only caught them stealing from me red handed, but when I fired the company for theft… they tried charging me almost $10,000 in work that WAS NEVER COMPLETED. When I brought this up to a man named, Chris, he literally laughed at me. This company and their contractors have NO idea what they are doing. Their work was horrendous. They literally glued a roof vent onto the top of my roofing shingles. Didn’t cut a hole or utilize the one that was there before. They put shingles over the hole, then glued the roof vent ON TOP of the shingles. This company is full of thieves. They’re loyal to saving your insurance money and absolutely nothing else. My insurance rep was calling and giving me updates and timelines on my project. I virtually never heard from Paul Davis. Always my insurance rep. He always knew more about my house and my project than I did. I work in healthcare. I ended up watching hours of YouTube videos and managed to compete the project myself because I could no longer trust them to do it. And the quality of work I pumped out?! 1,000x better than all the work, Paul Davis did. I literally knew nothing about construction. Run from this company as fast as you can. Do not fall victim like I did. I was naïve and too trusting.. when I should have went with my gut instinct. Company never replaced the items that were stolen from me. If you’ve had work done by Paul Davis in the past. I strongly suggest you hire an independent inspector to check their work. The list of everything this company did so poorly that they had to refund me is so large and extensive it’s easier to tell you to just avoid them. They’re trying to steal from you. First from the privacy of your own home. Then from their final bill they try and deliver to you with $10,000 in overcharges. They tried to charge me before they even came to inspect their own work. NOONE should use Paul Davis. Update for owner, Brian Rigsby. 10/14/24 Thanks for admitting to overcharging $10,000 that you were forced to correct and refund me for. That’s very important for your customers to know. The insurance company DID approve the work I requested and said that the entire wall adjacent to the fire SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. I will upload the original scope for other viewers. Not only did you lie last year, but you’re still trying to lie to consumers about how this whole mess went down. I was not asking for additional work to be done outside the scope of what was promised. Accept your mistakes and move on. Don’t come here painting another picture of what went down. Thieves. Disgusting. Jason is a liar and I consider you right there with him. You tried charging me for work that was never done. That’s why I was refunded. Important for your customers to know that.
