Horribly expensive - 2 to 3 times the other quotes that I received after having to pay $99 for someone to come out and estimate my basic gas hot water heater replacement. I can't believe that this company can consider themselves legitimate. Even the estimator couldn't explain why it was so expensive because he didn't have access to the estimating program. They were also going to charge me for replacing equipment / piping that is basically included in the installation. Rip off! And yet they got my $99 (which would NOT have been credited to the final bill). AVOID! They are not the Ken Griffin Plumbing of the past... I went with Constellation Home and couldn't be happier. Also they were going to charge $345 for replacing basic toilet kit tank pieces... which would have been done at the time as the water heater, so no extra trip. $345 for $20 toilet kit plus labor. $8000 for gas water heater replacement. Insane - no one should call them or use them.
Hello. We wanted to share and warn about our recent experience with Ken Griffin Plumbing Services. We have used them two times in the past and then again recently. The quality of the actual work has been good but this time… We feel ripped off. We had a pedestal bathroom sink and a replacement kitchen faucet installed. The office person told me they could not give me any quotes over the phone. They charge to have an installer just show up and give a quote. We had good use of this company before and went ahead and scheduled them. The installer charged over $1300. We suspected it was high, but the plumber was at our home, ready to go and we trusted this plumbing company. My husband called Ken Griffin Plumbing back afterwards, complaining about the how high the charge was. He was told that they have standard fees and defended the charge. It tells me that they could’ve given us a quote upfront but didn’t. She agreed to give a 10% discount. My husband called several other plumbers and all the quotes were between $500 and $600! He has called several times to try to catch the service manager, and left messages. The service manager is never in and does not return our calls. So we no longer recommend Ken Griffin Plumbing especially if they won’t give you a free estimate upfront. Shame on us for not calling other plumbers before scheduling them. We won’t do that again and surely will not call Ken Griffin Plumbing Services.
Update: KGP called me in a very gracious manner and offered me the refund, which I accepted. I assume my bad experience (described below) was just an isolated incidence from KGP (which has always been known to be a reputable company locally). So I updated my rating (given to KGP) accordingly. I had a very bad experience with Ken Griffin plumbing back in early March of 2024. There was water leaking into the basement of my house (which I turned into airbnb). At the time, my regular plumber Ismael was unavailable. Sine Ken Griffin Plumbing (KGP) has this 24-hour hotline, so I called KGP. The next morning, a plumber arrived, opened up the drywall several places, also went upstairs and ran the upstairs' dishwasher, trying to find out source of the leak. That plumber clearly did not know what he was doing. After two hours and charging me $215, he said that the leak was due to condensation of pipes based on what he observed the trace of leaks. And he said I need to spend $1200+ to wrap the pipes to root out future similar water leak. So the leak problem remained. A few hours after this plumber of SGP left, my regular plumber Ismael called me, and came. He said that the leak was clearly not due to condensation based on what observed about the traces and patterns of the leaked water on the drywall/ceiling. He said that leak had to come from upstairs. Within 20 minutes upon his arrival, Ismael located the source of the leak after opened up the dishwasher, which is a pump inside the dishwasher. And Ismael even showed me that there was still water dripping/flowing out of that pump. Afterwards, I hired an appliance technician to replace that dishwasher pump, and there was no more leak. And I called KGP's general phoneline, not once but twice, leaving two detailed messages about how incompetent the plumber KGP sent and demanding that the $215 which the plumber charged me be returned. But KGP never returned my call or issued me a refund check. I can see that KGP had a major problem, namely, the plumber KGP hired was not a competent plumber at all, and KGP did a terrible job in hiring qualified employees, and instead dispatched incompetent employee who did not know what he was doing to do a job he was not qualified to do.
We had an excellent experience with Ken Griffin Plumbing today. Ben and Josh did an great job of diagnosing the issue, explaining our options, and then making the repair we needed (at what we thought was a fair price). They are definitely our go-to company!
I contacted Ken Griffin last week because the toilet in my master bathroom was not flushing and was running constantly. The technician they sent out, Michael, originally said that the toilet needed a new part. (In fact, that part arrived by UPS several days after they were here.) However after Michael discussed my plumbing issue with Ken Griffin, he informed me that the toilet needed to be replaced not repaired. (That was not actually the case as I discovered after discussions with the company that had manufactured the toilet. The part that they sent had been recalled and they were giving me a new one.) In replacing the toilet, Michael broke the flange connecting the toilet to the waste system of the house. A second technician Chase came over and after evaluating the issue, cut a hole in my kitchen ceiling. There was a drip coming from the master bathroom that was not there before Ken Griffin came to fix my original issue. Chase then told me that a lot of piping needed to be replaced and that they were going to be cutting additional holes in two upstairs bathroom walls. They indicated that they were going to schedule the work for a later date. I contacted the office and spoke with Natalie and ask several times to get an estimate of what would be done with this additional repair and how much it would cost. I never received a response. I paid Ken Griffin $775 for the work they did that day. The receipt I received by email listed two labor charges with no detail. I contacted Natalie in the office several times for information about the detail of the work that had actually been done but received no response. I then decided to contact a second plumbing company to evaluate the issue. They adjusted the installation of the flange and installed a new wax seal. That corrected the problem and the leaking in the kitchen stopped. Obviously my plumbing issue was not evaluated and repaired correctly by Ken Griffin and I received no response to my inquiries. I will never use them again. I have to pay a drywall repair and painting of my kitchen ceiling that would not have occurred if the original issue had been evaluated correctly
I needed a water heater replaced and a bathtub drain fixed before a new tenant moved into my rental. Ken Griffin plumbing returned my call and quickly setup a service date. Ben Bidas was the assigned plumber on the job. Ben was kind, courteous, and had great communication. He took the time to explain exactly what he was doing. Next time I have a plumbing issue, I’m going to call Ken Griffin and ask for Ben!
George was the only plumber we contacted that already had the gas regulator part we needed. Knowing we had no heat in the middle of winter, he went drove for an hour to get the part and came in the morning shortly after we called. The emergency maintenance was more expensive but was worth it as George was very friendly and knowledgeable and was able to quickly replace a part and restore the gas heating to the house. I would definitely use and recommend Ken Griffin Plumbing and George again.
