I don’t think they are in business anymore, and if they are, they are horrible at it. Three days of phone calls, straight to voicemail, and no call back. I went to their place of business shown on their website, and all map applications, and it is now a boxing club. Supposedly fixing my TV as they are a technician for LG warranty issues, perhaps they are just taking LGs money and running? One more bit of info: their email address bounces back. Total scam, not a real business.
I took my JVC tuner to Consumer Electronics in Cary as the unit had just stopped receiving and broadcasting sound one afternoon. I bought it in Hong Kong in the 70's and it is fabulous; drives big speakers, been in the family for ever. He (CE) charged $90 to look at it. He (Justin?) called me back saying all was fine. Came over, he plugged it in and it worked. Got it home and in the darkened room noticed that all the selection lights were on (definite short) and I COULD NOT TURN IT OFF!!!!!! Soooo, I called him back and his solution was for me to hook it up to a power strip so that I could turn it off. I could not believe this guy! I took the JVC to Wake Forest Electronics run by a fellow my age who was an engineer for the old company Data General, a quality manufacturer of hard drives etc., He charged me a 256$ but rebuilt the switches that had shorted out. Consumer Electronics did nothing. The Dude is not able or willing to analyze or repair electronics -
I was initially nervous about my repair after reading the reviews, but my experience was positive. Once LG finally sent the service request, Consumer Electronic Services promptly reached out to ask questions and provided clear expectations. They informed me there would be a short wait to order the part, which was reasonable. My technician, Justin, called to schedule the repair, arrived within the three-hour window, and completed the job in less than an hour. He was professional and communicated effectively throughout the process. The biggest issue with these warranty services seems to be dealing with the manufacturer or warranty provider. In my case, LG did a poor job communicating and even gave misleading updates before they had even contacted Consumer Electronic Services. However, once the request reached them, everything moved along swiftly.
DirecTV Premier Protection Warranty Program sent them to diagnose my 15 year old Plasma TV so it would be covered under my DirecTV Warranty. The tech completely ignored everything I told him about the pink and blue splotches, horizontal and vertical images on commercials and TV shows, and refused to look at them. He said he could only send DirecTV pictures of a YouTube Color Swatch test. The Test had an embedded image of "YouTube" in the upper right corner in one of the colors, so he sent it to them diagnosing the problem as "Image Burn" which is a SCAM. DirecTV refused to honor my warranty as they said we leave the TV on so long it has image burn. That is a ridiculous claim, the TV goes into Screen Saver after being paused for more than 30 seconds, and it has NEVER EVER displayed Image Burn until the scam test was done by CES. I'm attempting to attach pictures of the REAL ISSUE which was TOTALLY IGNORED by the ignorant technician. It is NOT image burn, it should have been fully covered by my Warranty.
Jeff serviced our LG TV under warranty. Consumer Electronics was prompt, and the office was courteous and efficient. Jeff was on time, and had the repair done in moments. He got everything hooked back up quickly and was so personable. Great experience, once the job was assigned to Consumer Electronic Services!
Customer service starts with the first call! I was referred by the LG website and called in just to confirm I had the right place (if they were still a certified LG repair shop). I'm not sure who spoke to—but this person’s disposition was TERRIBLE. It felt like I was interrupting the gentleman and when I asked if I was, he was dismissive and just continued with his script about 25 years and continued with the same annoyed tone. I ignored the rating and figured if they were certified by LG I would give it a chance but if that introduction was any hint at what others have dealt with and why they have barely a 3 star rating, I want no parts. Good luck to anyone who ignores that like I did.
I had a 40 year old stereo receiver that belonged to my late father. It wasn’t turning on, leaving multiple other components (record player, tape deck) basically useless. I arranged for the repair and was able to drop it off and pick it up contact-free, which was appreciated. They were cordial and the price was very fair. The did an outstanding job. They didn’t just fix the stereo, they gave me back a piece of my Dad. I’d give them 10 stars if I could. Highly recommended.
