Domesticity : Fabric - Sewing - Bernina

This store is phenomenonal, the ONLY reason, I went was to drop off my Bernina for service. Somehow I left with a B05 Bernette, did I need another machine, no but its a heavy duty mechanical machine . Simple and not complicated except the cord is for Europe. The owner personally offered to drive to my home with the correct cord and pedal. That is customer service that is very rare in today's retail experience. The store is warm and inviting and the staff while very busy was able to give a warm and welcoming hello. This store is not your average quilting fabric store, the owner has fresh and fun prints. Top notch cotton quilting fabric at reasonable prices and fat quarters as well. They have threads, needles and doodads related to sewing and machine care. There are independent sewing patterns and apparel weight fabrics, there is a studio for the Bernina machines to rent or try out before you buy. They also offer classes for get to know your machine and sewing. This is truly a rare gem for sewers and quilting people.

A great addition to Lauraville and to Baltimore, a great quilt shop, Bernina dealer, classes for quilting, sewing, long arm quilting, a nice selection of modern clothing patterns, gift ideas for the quilter on your list, beautiful fabric collections I haven't seen elsewhere. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff.

So excited to have stumbled upon this shop. It exudes a spirit of warmth, creativity and inclusiveness. They have a really nice selection of quilting cottons but also apparel fabrics. Although the space seems small at first, it is packed with not just fabrics, but kits, notions, and books. And, there is a generous studio upstairs for classes. It is getting harder and harder to find independent brick and mortar stores that offer it all: knowledge, expertise, quality products and a sense of community. Domesticity does it all!

One of my favorite places! Domesticity is small but mighty. They have a fantastic array of top quality quilting cottons plus an assortment of lovely garment fabrics to suit a variety of needs. Fun notions, accessories, tools and patterns can also be found throughout the shop. Staff and owner are always kind, helpful, encouraging, and supportive. I always love a trip to Domesticity and always leave happy and excited to start sewing. Mind the first step and plan for street parking.

I absolutely love it here. Last Spring, I purchased my first sewing machine to learn a new hobby. I went from not knowing how to tread a bobbin to actually sewing things! I took their "Let’s get you sewing" series in late Spring/early Summer and made 3 items (pillow case, drawstring bag, and zippered bag), and then in December I took the Christmas Stocking Class (just have a teensy bit left to finish!). The instructors are so kind and patient. And the owner and employees at the store are so helpful, supportive and provide guidance. I live in Catonsville and travel to Lauraville to visit this shop and take classes. Looking forward to quilting classes in 2024! If you’re new or seasoned in sewing, cannot recommend this shop enough!!
