I recently inherited a Marantz receiver from my father which needed some work. I know absolutely nothing about vintage electronic equipment, so did a quick search, found Volume Electronics, contacted them, and just picked up my repaired item; great experience. It was so nice being greeted by a friendly person when I entered the store and answered all of my questions. The difference between what the receiver was compared to now after the repair is incredible, the sound is amazing. Very fair price and will definitely use them in the future.
I found the greatest place ever to repair all of my vintage stereo pieces! Volume Repair! I’m a vintage stereo junkie and was thinking I had a lot of "paper weights" that would never play music again. Then I found Mike at Volume and he has fixed all of my equipment from speakers to receivers and they’re playing fantastically. Mike is really good at what he does and has your repair done quickly. I highly recommend you check out Mike, Jack and Mike to get your stereos rocking again!
This place is top shelf. I have hat work done here several times over the last decade. And there's a reason for that. The people stand behind their do a good job. Being a vintage stereo guy myself , I would not Just trust anybody to work on My toys but I know here they're in good hands And these guys go beyond the call of duty to make things happen You would be doing yourself an injustice if you did not try Volume.
A real hidden treasure! Love this place! Thank you for existing lol! Seriously though, they were the only place that could fix our old Pioneer Centrex Stereo. They were great to work with. Mike and his staff were also very generous. Highly Recommended! Will definitely use them again and keep as a go-to contact for electronics repair; especially for vintage equipment. -Thank you guys! 🙂
I really wanted to give a great review since not many shops like this are around anymore but I had a pretty rough experience. Brought my amp into the shop at the beginning of September to get it repaired, I told the techs burnt tubes weren't the issue (I replaced every tube in the amp myself). When I picked up the amp after the 1st time, I saw the charged me for a new power tube completely disregarding what I had said. Either way, if the amp worked I'd be happy and move on. After 30 minutes of use, the amp starts having the same issue I brought it into the shop for. So I bring it back again hoping to mitigate the issue, the amp then sat in their shop for about 4 months in total. When I picked up the amp after it was 'fixed' last week the problem happened AGAIN. So as of now, the amp is still broken after about 5 months in their shop. The only plus I can really give here is the women working there and the owner were generally nice, however I'm about $250 deep in this place for an amp that is still non-functional after roughly being in their shop for 4-5 months. Just completely unacceptable, I'll have to bring it to another shop who can hopefully fix the issue digging an even deeper hole in my wallet. I really just want a refund since the amp was never 'repaired' but it seems like that's a trend of this shop, or at least with amps. Be weary of this place for valve amp repairs. Update: I brought the said amp above to a friend who builds amps and he was shocked when he opened the amp for repair. He suggested I sell the amp because of the mess they made inside the board trying to fix the problem. He however, fixed the amp in a week (for half the price of this store) and it’s been working for 2 months straight no issues. DO NOT BRING YOUR TUBE AMP HERE.
Charged me $200 to fix my amp - when I got it back it was worse than when I brought it in - they were very vague when I asked them what was wrong with the amp and what they did to fix it - I took it back - they fixed it - 2 weeks and 2 hundred dollars later - bad jack in the back - why didn't they catch that before they sent it out the door and charged me $200? What did they fix? They said they tested it but I took it home and plugged it in and in 30 seconds I could tell it wasn't working right - I have a friend who has taken several amps there - he says they always charge him $300 (which they tried to charge me at first) then they are always vague about what they did to repair it - almost like they have a set price to repair an amp no matter what they do to it - it was like pulling teeth to get any information out of them - like taking your car to a garage to have it fixed and they charge you an outrageous amount to fix it and then can't tell you what was wrong with it or what they did to fix it - and now it doesn't sound as good as it did before - after I specifically and repeatedly told them that I liked the character of this vintage amp and if anything you're going to do is going to change the sound, don't do it ( and they were snotty acting) - I'll never go there again
Mike gave me above and beyond service. First the repair only took one day which was AMAZING!! Other guys I've had wait weeks to even look at it. Second I needed it shipped out to a musician in another state super fast and Mike had it boxed up and shipped out the next day. Such good service in taking care of us and crazy fast turn around with great cost. No one else could have done it as good.
