My house was built in 1914 so I naturally had concerns about the foundation, but I wasn't sure what to make of some proposals I had received from foundation repair contractors. Sam's expertise was exactly what I needed. He was honest with me about the problems with the house, but also understood that I was looking for some practical solutions that I could move forward with and helped guide me through different options. We hired Sam to inspect our house for general issues we had been seeing, particular in regards to our foundation after having multiple inspections done by foundation companies. He was very communicative in setting up the appointment and was able to come out the next day. During his inspection he was extremely thorough, pointing out things he noticed both inside and outside the house in areas not just related to our foundation work. I greatly appreciated his style of communication during the inspection as well. He provided thorough overviews of what he noticed, what was a red flag or just cosmetic type things and practical/realistic advice on possible costs. He was able to breakdown technical issues in an easy to understand manner and made it very clear when something was an actual concern or could be addressed in a longer time frame. He also reviewed the proposals we had received from the foundation companies and offered his own advice on if the foundation proposals would actually address the core issue or would just provided band-aid type fixes. Sam's expertise is well worth the price if you're looking for an independent expert who isn't motivated to make a quick sale on possibly overkill or unneeded foundation work.
