I hired Marcelino of MPH Construction for the foundation and framing work on our remodel in Noe Valley, San Francisco. As a homeowner, I highly recommend Marcelino for any structural or framing work and would gladly hire him again. Marcelino and his crew specialize in foundation, framing, and siding, but he’s also extremely knowledgeable about the entire construction process. Before hiring him, I interviewed several contractors. Marcelino was the only one who could show me recent, similar projects completed in San Francisco—an important factor for me, especially given the challenges of working in tight urban spaces where your foundation is right next to your neighbors. Our project included significant excavation, a full foundation replacement, a complete seismic upgrade, and about 3,200 square feet of new framing. The structural phase has taken roughly five months (we’re now nearing the end of framing). Despite managing multiple projects, Marcelino consistently had a crew of at least five skilled workers on-site six days a week. His team is hard-working, professional, and efficient. MPH Building Contractor did the building part of a remodel on our 110 year-old house, including leveling old floors, shoring up old structures, and pouring new foundation. The work is absolutely gorgeous! I feel great knowing that because of the quality of the work our house is good for another 100 years. The guys were skilled & courteous & showed up every day, and Marcie himself is lovely. I especially appreciated that they were conscious of not wasting too much - they re-used good timber from the old walls where possible. Marcelino has unquestionably been my favorite contractor to collaborate with. Our project involved adding two bedrooms and two bathrooms to an empty basement. We sought his expertise when our previous contractor had botched the job, and other contractors had turned us away. Marcelino not only accepted the challenge but also approached it with a thoughtful and solution-oriented mindset. He tackled various issues, from replacing our gas line to redoing the framing and correctly positioning the pipes. What sets Marcelino apart is not only his commitment to ensuring the project passes inspection but also his evident pride in his work. He's a true master when it comes to project management. Our project, which had been at a standstill for over a year under the previous contractor due to constant pipe work and electrical revisions, was miraculously revived by Marcelino. He efficiently coordinated with the plumber and electrician, resulting in the completion of the plumbing and electrical work within a matter of weeks. Throughout our engagement, Marcelino has consistently demonstrated professionalism, but what truly stands out is his kindness, thoughtfulness, and immense respectfulness. Regrettably, I've had prior experiences where contractors did not treat women with the respect they deserve. However, Marcelino's approach was refreshingly different. The end result speaks volumes about his craftsmanship. We now have two beautiful bathrooms with impeccably installed tiles and shower door, and our two bedrooms are equally well-done. He was great at putting the final touch of the paint. Without a doubt, I would eagerly engage Marcelino for future projects. He has proven himself to be not just a contractor but a trustworthy partner who delivers exceptional results.
