Howell Door

I want to sing the praises of Howell Door (garage door) company. I had such a hard time finding a locally-owned reputable garage door repair company. I had several estimates for my repair ranging from $350-$1200 from very questionable repair people. My neighbor had used Howell Door and gave me their info. They are honest, helpful and speedy and the repair was only $320! I highly recommend, not just for the price!

Howell has changed owners. I liked the previous owners. The new owners are at least as good, if not better. We got very quick service on help with a garage door not opening. Ended up a dry rotted belt. The technician who came was courteous, quick, did the job well to replace the belt and lube parts. The invoice was competitive at the least. Also the tech advised me that the belt that failed was under a warranty that would apply. So I got a new belt from the maker of the garage door opener for "free" under warranty. The tech did NOT charge me for the belt replacement they installed, about a $50 value. Few would do that. Now I have a replacement belt waiting for issues which is awesome and cost me nothing. I was VERY happy with the service and will come back to Howell. Job well done and we were taken care of quickly for a very fair price.

This is the second time I’ve used Howell Door Company and even though it’s changed hands they still are excellent and reasonable. Keith is the guy who showed up. Personable, capable and explained everything he was doing. I give them 5 stars!! Thank you Howell Door Company!

Howell door installed a new garage door for us years ago and did a great job at a fair price. One of our springs just broke (near the end of its expected life span). Howell was super quick to come out and temporarily get the door working while the correct springs were ordered. A week later they came back to finish the job. The technicians were professional, on time, and did good quick work. However, there was a small discrepancy about the final bill due to a miscommunication/misunderstanding with the answering service I first talked to when I scheduled the repair. I then spoke with Mike at Howell who explained the charges were their standard rates but he was more concerned about keeping a customer happy and honoring what I was incorrectly told on the phone rather than charging the extra $$$. Great honest customer service. Will certainly be using them again when needed and would recommend them to others.

Unfortunately I cannot say that I recommend working with Howell Door. We called Howell door due to a broken garage door spring. The technician arrived - but from a different company, based out of New Jersey. This technician was from their parent company - Howell Door has been acquired. Despite our hesitation with what felt like a bait-and-switch, we completed the repair because we were eager to have our garage door functioning again. Within six months - our garage door fails. We hire a different company and they identify issues with the repair done by Howell Door. Incorrectly installed end bearing plates, wrong track setting, and bowed torsion rod. I discussed the issue with the Howell Door manager - he did not agree the repairs were done incorrectly, but then… suggested perhaps the photos that I shared were staged by the competitor?? An offer was made for future credit but to be honest - I don’t feel comfortable using Howell Door (or parent company) again.

Showed up on time actually a day early and two other people told me it needed major work. They were able to fix it and save me a lot of money. I will use them for everything I can and highly recommend them. Thank you.
