Kostos Electric

Kostos Electric was phenomenal to work with. We needed emergency service on a Saturday and they were over within 30 minutes. After fixing the issue, Kostos also subsequently installed outdoor outlets, new outdoor lighting and re-wired our garage for an electric car. Great communication, prompt service and incredibly helpful, cannot recommend Kostos Electric enough.

Nate is no-nonsense professional. He knows his stuff, and he gets it done honestly and in a reasonable amount of time. We had him install a couple of electrical outlets, and it was no big deal for him. Everything works perfectly, and the price was right. Nate did an excellent job replacing the old cloth-insulated wiring, outlets, and switches in my apartment. He also successfully converted several pull-chain light fixtures to be switch-activated. I was very impressed by his professionalism and responsiveness, and he took the time to clearly explain all the work being done. The service was high quality and provided at a reasonable price.

I highly recommend working with Nate. He did a couple of projects for us recently including installing a 240 volt outlet in our kitchen for an induction stove. He also fixed the lights in the hood and installed a new dimmer in a hallway. We hired him again a few weeks later to move a junction box and install a new outlet in our kitchen in the midst of a mini remodel. He is very responsive and punctual. He cleaned up thoroughly after he finished the job. He also completed the work a head of time and for the price he quoted. I also consulted him about some future projects and he had great suggestions. We look forward to hiring Nate in the future.

Nate Kostos completely replaced the electrical in my 1 bedroom coop. My building is over 100 years old and my unit’s wiring was in awful condition before he started. Most of the wiring was original - what little had been replaced was done poorly - some with lamp wire, a fire hazard! The old circuit box had been installed upside down and all my electrical was on one circuit! So it all had to be redone. Nate removed all the 100 year old wiring, outlets, switches, and breaker box. New breaker box probably triples number of circuits. He had to run two lengths of conduit from the box up three stories to the apartment to carry the new wire plus dedicated lines for kitchen appliances, AC, etc. He did a far superior job mounting that exterior conduit than most of my neighbors - he pointed out places where conduit to other units was rickety. He replaced all the existing outlets and switches. He added many new outlets (probably tripling what had been there). Added switches, including dimmers. Added a dedicated hard wired smoke alarm. Removed and replaced all the light fixtures. Nate was easy to work with - he is good-natured and answered all my questions (mostly because I was curious about how it all worked). At one point work had to stop for about 6 weeks (issue on my end not his) and then resume. He was very patient. My Coop Board requires pre-approval of all credentials and they are super picky - they went out of their way to compliment the quality of his work. No contractor has X-ray vision - in any work of this nature they sometimes encounter unknown things outside the scope of the project. It happened in this case, the issue made sense, and additional work was added - but even then, the cost for the overall project was still far less than the next lowest quote. I would definitely recommend him and would use him again.

Nate helped my condo association do a bunch of projects, including installing GFCI outlets, putting in an emergency light, and installing a grounding rod. He's super easy to work with, very responsive and communicative, and did a great job. Installing the grounding rod wires were complicated due to the layout of our building, and I really appreciated his willingness to troubleshoot different aspects of the project and find alternatives that would be less disruptive to our neighbors. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again if we need electrical work in the future.
