It was a mixed experience for me. The tech that sold me my new system was knowledgeable and was a big part of why I chose McQuillan. Unfortunately, there were problems with the install and communication after the fact. The electricians decided not to place the approximately 3 ft of conduit between my panel and the box outside not the ~$20 disconnect with no discernable markings to indicate appropriateness for the install. Instead, they cut the existing conduit back to the wall and made it appear as though the proper liquidtight conduit was in place. This left a gap where rain could easily have entered the conduit and then my panel which could have cost me thousands to replace. They also didn't have the necessary parts to finish the electrical work on the day of install and sent a completion certificate to the lender after promising to come back the next day to complete the job. I had to contact them again to have the electrician back a week later. When the electrician came back, I pointed out the issue with the conduit and he said he'd fix it. He covered it up with sealant and left without talking to me instead of doing it right. I ended up replacing the problematic wiring myself which was hardly a difficult task even with my limited experience. Besides this, they also took my old smart thermostat without consulting me and didn't respond to questions about the install after the fact. Considering the cost to complete the install, I expected higher-quality work. Perhaps my lense is tinted from the electrical issue, but some of the custom ducting they did is not exactly high quality either (offset and unsealed along seams) and they put in a janky hole for a filter slot with no holder and a cover that's just bent sheet metal. I can't recommend them for HVAC work at this point. I'd take back the job if I could. The only feedback they requested was regarding one of their installers who was actually a replacement for the first guy who had to leave early. Nobody followed-up after I pointed out concerns, so I can only assume this is the norm for them since they make no other effort to check in on things after they get paid. Update: They asked me to call them in response to this review but never called me back. I also found that the condensate tube was pinched completely closed which was a minor but annoying issue on top of everything else. Another update: The system keeps shutting down on nearly a daily basis. They won't come out to look at it for a month. It's November, so it may not be able to keep up by the time they visit.

Justin was very professional and courteous during his visit. He quickly diagnosed the issue with my furnace — the thermocouple had gone out — and got everything running smoothly again. He explained what happened in clear terms and made sure the system was working properly before leaving. Excellent service and great experience overall. UPDATE: It’s unfortunate that, after reading this review, the company thinks I’m just unhappy with the visit from two years ago. That is true, but I am even more unhappy with the most recent visit. Their dismissive reply to my review is trying to make you think I’m complaining about something from two years ago. I’m not. If that were the case, I would’ve written this review two years ago. McQuillan Home Services earns points for professionalism in appearance, but let’s be honest: they seem far more interested in padding invoices than fixing the actual problem. Two years ago, they replaced a cartridge in my downstairs shower for $611.46. When that same shower started dripping again, I did some homeowner triage: disassembled the faucet, soaked the cartridge, seats, and springs in vinegar (hard water is our reality), and realized there was one last piece—the plastic piece that holds the seats and springs —that I couldn’t get out. That’s literally the job I called them for. Instead of pulling out the right plumbing tool and removing the plastic piece, they went straight for the scare tactics. "Your water’s too hard! Your water pressure is too high!" (Yes, 90 psi is high, but not the crisis they made it out to be.) Then came the sales pitch. They sat me down at the table with their iPad and rolled out options ranging from nearly $12,000 down to just under $2,000. Their "basic" option, using a part I already owned, was $1,902. That’s not service; that’s theater. To add insult to injury, when they put everything back together, they managed to reverse the hot and cold lines. They didn’t even test their own work. Later that night, I grabbed a pliers, popped out that stubborn plastic piece, scrubbed the valve body with vinegar, and installed a new cartridge—this time a generic version for about $40. Delta’s own part was $85, so yes, I saved twice: once by avoiding McQuillan’s highway robbery prices, and again by skipping the "official" part markup. The repair took me 20 minutes, mostly done while chatting with a friend on the phone. And guess what? No more drip. McQuillan is professional, sure—but professional upsellers. If you want to pay thousands for what should be a simple cartridge swap, by all means call them. Personally, I’d be happy to fix your drippy faucet for the cost of the part and a six-pack of beer. At least then you’ll know someone actually tested the hot and cold before leaving.

McQuillan offered fair & honest pricing. We received a few estimates from around the Saint Paul area & McQuillan was the clear choice. Their Technicians were absolutely incredible throughout the entire trench-less line installation process. They were polite, prompt, professional, experienced, communicative, & confident. We are 110% satisfied with their performance & would choose McQuillan again in a heartbeat!

Tony was very kind and informative. He throughly explained what was wrong with our floor drain and why he would need to clean out the pipe leading to our main sewer. After he was done he showed us the cleaned out pipe and gave us information on how to maintain and prevent the pipe from backing up again!

The tech was very polite and explained everything to us in a way that we could understand so we could make good decisions. He understood how important it was for us to get our heat working because we have a baby, so he took two trips to get parts and make sure that our heat was working before he completed his work. He installed a new thermostat, switchboard, fuse, and humidifier control.

Discovered a leak in some pipe that a prior owner saw fit to duct tape instead of deal with properly. Called McQuillan, and Lucas L. came out. He was incredibly professional and gave me a range of options to solve the issue. Appreciated his expertise in assessing the home's plumbing, his ability to find a solution that worked with my budget, and his professionalism. Job took a couple hours, and he highlighted what he expects my next steps are going to be.
