Buyer Beware! Dealing with water leaks is stressful enough on its own - plumbing repairs drying possible mitigation, and maybe even remodeling. After a pipe burst on our main level, we were referred to Pure Restore by our plumber for an inspection. The inspector took photos, thermal imaging and moisture readings, and advised us not to touch anything on the main level due to concerns about mold spreading into our ventilation system. They also inspected our crawlspace where we had a burst last year that had already been cleaned up and mitigated by another company. The proposals we received from Pure Restore informing us that we had a Cat 2 / Class 3 Water loss on the main level and a Condition 3 / Class 4 in the crawlspace which is described as the most complex and hazardous category. The quote came back at $8k for the main level and $10k for the crawlspace. This freaked us out so I contacted the other company who did the prior crawlspace remediation to inspect their work from last year and they determined: - The crawlspace looked sound, with only a small, normal area of surface mold. - The main level could be dried by removing the tack strips that had mold forming, pull the carpet back and remove the wet pad, allowing airflow. After discussing the difference of proposed work / opinions between the 2 companies Carlos stood behind his employees and provided us with a no cost air quality test and environmental sampling to confirm their proposal was accurate. The results showed: - Clean indoor air on the main level (4 days after we removed the tack strips and wet pad) - Only one small area in the crawlspace with very low levels of common environmental mold - No "toxic black mold" present - The black material reported on the interior walls was from the vapor barrier, not mold. Given the difference between assessments and pricing $0 aka DIY vs $18k, we chose not to move forward with Pure Restore and gave our experience to the plumbing company who recommended them. My advice to other homeowners: Always get a 2nd or even 3rd quote - especially when you’re being told that urgent, high-cost remediation is needed.

The first 7 days we were treated great after that the service went down quick. We kept asking for reading about the moisture in the house and one tech would give it to us the other one would say we had to call the office to get the readings. It took over three weeks to dry our house, looking at the negative reviews it seems they use 3 weeks as their guide to dry a house. After that when they came in to demo our kitchen and floors they had to get rid of the cabinet that was damaged. They broke two other cabinets. Once we got the check for the reconstruction we were given a two week time line by Alvaro when it would be done. We paid January 13th and funds where taken out January 14th. Alvaro asked to put a lockbox so his team could come in when needed. This is where everything came unglued. We where expecting completion by January 18th, except that never happened. January 15th we had dry wall team come in after 3pm and didn't leave until close to 8pm. They left a huge mess and bad work. Tony and Alvaro came in the next day to see the bad work and mess the team left. They fixed it on that Thursday which looked really good, we thought we were turning a corner. That's when the lies started. Their floor guy was supposed to come in on Saturday 18th to drop off the floor early in the morning except he couldn't because his vehicle is not good for snow. We were never told of that we had to reach out to Alvaro who explained the issue. That meant Monday the 20th when they should have started on the floor they couldn't and had to start a day later. During the floor guy not working the paint came in and killed it, Tony did great work. On Wednesday January 22nd we had some of our cabinets installed and where told by Hilario that the floor guy had to help him install the cabinets because his helper was let go. During this time we never knew who or when the workers would be coming in. We asked Alvaro that we needed this info ahead of time, this never happened ever with Alvaro. When Hilario was installing the cabinets we asked about damaged cabinets and he said he would fix them but never really did a good job, pictures included. During this time we asked about the damaged and broken cabinets that needed to be replaced. Alvaro kept telling us different stories. One day they were looking for them, the next they might have to be built. This went on for a few days until we called to speak to Gabriel who said he would get this under control, except he didn't. On Monday January 27th Gabriel told us that they had talked to their cabinet company and they had to fire them because they were lying. We where told that by that Friday or Saturday the project t wound be done that didn't come to happen. We had to get the owner of the company to get this project under control which didn't get done until February 11th. During this time they sent an invoice to our insurance company, which our insurance company fought due to over pricing. They knocked off 8 grand but like the other bad reviews it was over billing. When the company was completed with everything they left our cabinets looking bad. One of the cabinets was not installed correctly and the door broke down less than 24 hours after being installed and other parts are not lined up correctly. When voiced our opinion any anything that looked bad the workers made it seems like caused the problem. They did an awful job and everyone was been warned Pictures included. Edited: first the discount was because we stayed home for work that was never completed. Second we were told by the workers they could not leave until the sheet was signed, seems like intimidation. We wanted this to be over and waited until we received the invoice so we could make sure we were not being over billed. We complained several times about the work, workers blamed us any time we had an issue. The work was completed on Feb 11th. That's not weeks after work was cometed. We are going to have to hire another company to fix these issues. Three bad reviews having the same issues within the year should raise several flags.

I have been so pleased with Pure Restore. The team answered my call early on a Saturday and were in our house by noon doing mitigation. They helped me call my insurance company and were there when the inspector came by. The team came by 6 days a week to check progress on our drying, kept us updated every step of the way, and always called to give us a lead time on arrival. We're nearly at the end now and I'm so grateful for all they've done.
