A-1 Affordable Electric & Plumbing

We had an extremely disappointing experience with A1 Electric & Plumbing in Rockford, Illinois. They were responsible for installing electrical panels and running some home-run wires in our building, and the quality of their work was just awful. We've had multiple issues since: electric water heaters ended up being powered by the wrong panels, and even worse, we found electrical breaker terminals that were literally burned and melted because they hadn't been tightened down properly. Loose wires, careless mistakes, and a total lack of attention to detail made it a really bad experience overall. They were also not timely at all, which just added to the frustration. In short, we would not recommend them to anyone else.

I have a 4 unit building that was fully gutted and pretty much turned out to be an all new construction site at the end. I hired A-1 for installing an all new electrical system in the entire building. They did an absolute phenomenal job. Jeff and his crew worked from dusk till dawn even during the winter months without no heat nor electricity as the building was at its bear bones when they started. Jeff with A-1 and his crew went above and beyond and I highly recommend using them for any job big or small. This job required alot of attention to detail which I don't believe a journeyman level company would have been able to handle. All the city inspections were passed with flying colors and even after A-1 passed their electrical inspection, they went through the building and cleaned up very well behind themselves. I live out of state and I was at peace as A-1 handled the job without me needing to be there babysitting them to complete the job. Thanks again Jeff with A-1!!

From my experience, do not go to them for plumbing. It seems like they just did everything very lazily and left stuff undone. I had them put in a new insert for the shower and they left spots exposed and did a terrible caulk job. They probably should have cut more around the window as well to have room to put the trim back on. They did an illegal cut in the basement for the plumbing and I believe the angle of the slope for the one pipe where they did the illegal cut is a bit too much. Highly do not recommend.

I called that Jeff old man glasses with abeard I itook pictures he quoted me a price of $1,800 I had most of the material to upgrade my service but my main thing was I wanted was to have the ceiling fan outlet put in and stuff he didn't even do that he just wanted to do the service after already he started it which should have taken 6 to 8 hours he started it at 8am didn't leave until 11:00pm and still wasn't done had to come back the next day for another 3 hours. I have no problem paying the extra materials he needed to use he just wanted to come back and try and say well I charge $130 an hour no that was what the price was for you quoted me I wouldn't do business with that man again and I still have to call electrician now to do the other work

On time did a great job in a timely manner at a very fair price would definitely call again

Jeff recently guided me to install a dimmer switch and fix a multi-switch light. He was patient and kept me safe with coaching on a multi-meter test. He’s great and humorous.

Jeff was so helpful I needed an invoice from seven years ago, he didn't stop looking for it until he found it. Besides being so conscientious, he's also a great plumber. He's honest and fair in all his dealings. I've used him in the past and will continue to use him in the future. THANKS JEFF!!!!
