Douglas Foundation Repair has a rating of 4.3 out of 5 based on over 64 reviews on Google
I needed to have the old and damaged skirting removed from my pier beam home and new one installed. I called several companies and got 5 different quotes. Douglas Foundation Repair Was one of the lowest bids so I was concerned with quality. I did a lot of research on Douglas Foundation Repair google, Yelp, BBB, etc and I felt good selecting them. The crew was professional, cleaned up each day and completed the skirting in 7 days. They did an amazing job and I am very happy that I selected them over all the other companies. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have new skirting put on your home!
I HAVE TO HIRE A WHOLE NEW COMPANY TO FIX THEIR SHOTTY WORK. Looking at the reviews and their responses here (and on the phone), they obviously think they do no wrong. Every single patch around my home looks like garbage. Also, our foundation has continued to move since the work was done but they insist everything is fine. Don't work with these guys. They won't come out and fix anything and also said our warranty is expired because we now have a slow leak. Well, a foundation that is still moving will probably create a slow leak. THESE PATCHES ARE NOT DONE PROPERLY AND THEY LOOK LIKE GARBAGE. FOUR OTHER FOUNDATION COMPANIES HAVE COME OUT AND TOLD ME THEY WERE DONE POORLY. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEIR WARRANTY WILL COVER ANY MOVEMENT IF THE LEAK IS FIXED. YOUR WARRANTY DOES NOT AND YOU TOLD ME I WILL HAVE TO PAY $300 PER PIER, TOTALING $7800, IN ORDER FOR YOU TO REINSTATE MY WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!! OTHER COMPANIES HAVE WARRANTY TO ENSURE THEIR WORK. THE CLAUSES IN YOUR WARRANTY ENSURE YOU DO NOT. THE MANAGER OVER THE PHONE EVEN QUESTIONED THE FINISHED CONCRETE PATCHES.
We discovered there was a foundation issue at our property in Austin (South East). Appears this is common because of the type of clay soil in the area. The soil contracts when it is dry and expands when wet. Over the past year when there was a drought, this emphasized the issue and we began to notice cracks in the walls where the foundation began to pull away. Since this is not an uncommon problem in the Austin area, there are several companies that do foundation repair. We had several companies come out to provide an assessment and a free estimate. I did a lot of research on each of the companies, looking at how long they had been in business, the reviews, the size of the companies, the methodology they use for repair, etc. In the end, we decided to go with Douglas Foundation. There were not the cheapest or the most expensive, but we liked their approach of the pier system with the 3 concrete piers under the slab foundation and not held with brackets. The warranty is a lifetime warranty and the contract was not too onerous. I am an out of town property owner and they were very cooperative with scheduling because I wanted to be there during the job, especially during the lifting of the house. They estimated it would take 4-5 days, in the end it was a little longer, maybe 6 days in total, but we were very happy with the work they did and the project manager Jose was good to communicate with.
Incredible job Jose and his team completed regarding the foundation work on our home. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and tireless commitment transformed what could have been a stressful process into a truly impressive result. Throughout the project, the crew demonstrated exceptional work ethic and care, often going above and beyond to ensure every aspect was handled with precision. Their communication was clear, and the pride they took in their work was evident every step of the way. Given the level of dedication and the outstanding outcome, I strongly believe this team deserves formal recognition. A performance-based bonus or reward would not only honor their efforts but also reinforce the culture of excellence they embody. Please consider this a sincere recommendation to acknowledge their contribution.
Great experience working with Douglas Foundation. We had been having trouble with animals crawling up under our home. DF proposal process was quick and detailed. The install team worked hard and did a wonderful job. Very happy with the outcome and customer service. We worked with Jose Acosta and Ricky A./Laura R/Bonnie H.
Original review: Last year Douglas did some foundation work for us. The inspector who initially came recommended we solve the moisture issue in our crawlspace, which was good advice and why I’m giving two stars instead of zero. They get two stars instead of five because the quality of the work was poor. We followed their recommendation to level the house & add joists between the beams. (We also ended up encapsulating our crawlspace with a different company.) This year while doing floor and kitchen repairs our floor and kitchen contractors said they recommended we repair our foundation before we proceed… Which was confusing because we’d paid Douglas thousands of $ last year to repair our foundation. Our contractors shared videos showing that the joists Douglas installed were SUPER wobbly/not installed properly and doing nothing. We also had a second foundation company come take a look, and they show our foundation needs to be leveled again. When we asked Douglas about this, they didn’t have any explanation for the joists. They said they could repair those "free of charge" while they re-level the house (not free). When asked why we’d need to level again less than a year after they supposedly did that work, they just kept repeating "houses in Austin need to be leveled every 2-5 years." Last year they’d told us every 7… and regardless, 10 months is less than 2 years. THEN they never even sent over the proposal for redoing the work, despite a reminder (because we also wanted to see if they had data from immediately after leveling last year). We DO NOT recommend Douglas. Quality Foundations is doing our re-do work. Edit to add: Wednesday afternoon Douglas evaluated and said they would send the post-work elevations that evening. We didn't hear anything, so Thursday night we emailed to ask for updates. Douglas replied that they were working on a quote for the shim and level, and they would have a quote to us by Friday morning. By Monday evening, we still did not have a quote or any new updates, so I wrote this factual review. It wasn't until after this review was posted, Douglas reached out to offer to re-level for free. We advised them we'd already decided to move forward with another company and asked if a partial refund would be possible. Douglas advised us they would get back with us. You can guess what happened with that.
We had Douglas work on our house in 2016 and now we have to have work done exactly where they supposedly sank the appropriate amount of piers. By exactly I mean exactly not 3 ft away or even 6 inches. I mean exactly.
