The inspector reported active termite infestations and recommended wood replacement, chemical treatment, and attic preventive treatment for a total of $4800, with a 3-year warranty. The inspector assured us that fumigation was unnecessary and that the company would handle any termite issues under the warranty. However, my experience with Mariners has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing: 1. Lack of Transparency and Documentation: On 8/11/2022, Mariners replaced alleged infested wood, but I did not witness the chemical treatment of "18 gallons of pesticide from a truck", nor did I receive any treatment reports or pesticide safety sheets. The wood replacements were mostly decorative knee braces and fasciae except 1 beam. 2. Ineffective Treatment and Poor Follow-Up: In the summer of 2023, I found termite droppings near the previously treated area. The technician who visited merely sprayed the painted wood without any surface preparation and provided no written treatment report or chemical safety sheet. The technician stated, "we just do spray for warranty, nothing else." 3. Second Inspection Revealed Active Infestations: On 12/2/2024, I arranged another inspection with Terminix due to concerns about Mariners' service. Terminix reported multiple active termite infestations in the attic and noted the absence of any previous treatment tags. Despite multiple phone calls, it took Mariners 6 weeks to send a technician who confirmed some active infestations but did not thoroughly inspect or treat all identified spots. Again, no treatment report or chemical safety sheet was provided. Marines did not follow up with me despite technician suggested fumigation and told me to expect the call from Mariners soon. 4. Warranty Issues and Misleading Information: I called Mariners several time and Mariners declined to cover the cost of fumigation under the warranty, offering a discounted price instead. When I raised concerns with the owner, he falsely claimed that we had declined fumigation initially and requested a "sub-standard recommendation" of wood replacement and local treatment. Nathan provided no documents with my wife's actual signature, only a computer screen of disclaimer with a misspelled name of my wife in the name section requesting "secondary work". We’re never ever presented this information before. Who would spend $4800 to request such "sub-standard" "secondary" treatment if the situation was well presented. Apparently, Marines made up such false document to cover up their fraudulent practice. 5. Sending Unlicensed individual to do the job. Recently we found out Mariners sent unlicensed individual as technician to do inspection and treatment to our house in "warranty" service. This suggests Mariners is being deceptive with their customers. That would also explain why Mariners doesn’t provide any written reports in our house for their treatments. Mariners Pest Control Inc misrepresented their services and led us to more expensive, ineffective treatments for their financial gain. They committed forgery, used our identity without our knowledge, and failed to fulfill their warranty obligations. Mariners is not compliant with relevant laws and regulations, leaving customers in disadvantageous positions. Formal complaint has been filled with Structural Pest Control Board. I strongly advise against using their services.
