We had Ben Franklin Plumbing in to replace the drain assembly and pipes under a half-bath sink & replace a bath tub spout with diverter that simply screwed off. The technician was pleasant and did a good job & cleaned up after himself. He was at our home for a total of 2 1/2 hours, including a trip to the local Home Depot to get parts. We paid $1,500 for this work. He did give us a quote before starting & that amount seemed totally bogus but we had company coming to stay 4 days later and couldn't wait for another plumber to come - so we knuckled under and paid. Google says that for that job in Columbus I could expect to pay $300-750. I checked Home Depot prices and the parts used should have been $30-100. So my charge seems pretty outlandish for 2+ hours and $100 in parts. Be prepared, and ask 2 or 3 places ahead for a price range for your job - and if you get a robot, ask to be called back by a person. The work was fine but the cost was exorbitant.
Randy came out and replaced my damaged water heater. Received updated time of arrival and job was completed within two hours. Great quality on installation and very professional. Will use this company again in the future.
I wanted an estimate on installing a gas line to a gas range, previously had electric, and in a house with galvanized pipe. I must first say that I was ultra pleased with my first AI phone interaction to make an appointment! It was better than a real person. I could understand every word she said. The voice was polite, no attitude, asked all the right questions, nothing more or less. And in fact, I got a same day appointment! On to the estimate. Steve looked at everything I had. Explained what could and couldn't be done. Explained in detail how and what would be needed for my new gas line. Word of caution, this is not an inexpensive process. The parts are expensive. But Explained as to why that was the case. Felt great about what Steve would be doing and scheduled the work.
Plumbers are excellent and do Avery good job. Never an issue with them. They get 5 stars. The company itself is a little too pricey. They are a little too expensive. There quote to put a tank kit in one toilet was just shy of 400.00 and you can buy a new toilet for less than that. Price quote to install a new toilet was right at 500.00 if I purchase the toilet. I used this company for 10-11 years when owned by Tim and prices were reasonable but the new owners are pushing their limits with pricing. Not sure that I will continue using them.
After Benjamin plumbing left, they found a discrepancy in my bill. I thought the bill was a bit high and I was right. It took them a couple of weeks to figure it out, but that was ok. Thank you, Jeff. If you want top notch plumbers this is the way to go. They are professional and bring the best trained people to do the job. Thank you Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for listening to an old lady!
Called them because I had a water leak. Seem to be around the dishwasher area. Technician came out took a look at it and said yes it was the dishwasher Leaking. Shut the water shut off under the sink off and said I could turn the water back on in the home and there would be no more leakageand that I needed to replace the dishwasher. OK, fine, but it was not. I continue to lay a towel down on the floor and went back to work. By the time I got home from work, the towel was completely soaked. Still leaking. I do not feel that he properly diagnosed the issue. He was only here for maybe 20 minutes. Very disappointed. Also, I found out that when you call you are actually speaking to an AI person! Not a real person. Ended up calling another company and within 15 minutes the repair man was able to diagnose the issue and repair it too. It was not the dishwasher leaking. It was the icemaker valve.
Plumber Randy Gordon did a great job. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He had already assessed the needs of the job and arrived with everything he needed to install the new hot water heater tank in our mobile home. Randy went right to work. Once installed and water was back on, he filled the tank, and inspected for any possible leak, which there was none. He had us turn the taps on to remove any air. Very efficient. Highly recommend Ben Franklin and Randy for your plumbing needs.
