Castle Dream Construction & Basement Waterproofing

I hired J for a project in early august. My basement flooded and required some new baseboards, new flooring, and painting. He quoted me a higher than average but reasonable quote. J was easy to communicate with and came on time each day. He was a pleasant guy and I have nothing against him as a person. However, the quality of the work we received was very disappointing. I’ve attached just a few photos to show you what he considered a finished job. J’s paint job was sloppy pretty much everywhere and the line work along baseboards (which he charged me an extra $300 to do) was so bad in some areas that I now need to retouch the paint on my walls. The brand new floors were installed with huge gaps along the wall joints/door frames. J initially just filled these gaps with large amounts of caulk and called it a finished job. After discussing my dissatisfaction J stated he could replace some flooring. Of course, I had to pay for the extra flooring and I also had to hire him an extra set of hands (an additional $400). In addition, this brand new floor was installed so poorly that we have sections lifting from the ground (since day 1 of installation) and they are quickly becoming a tripping hazard. All in all, I’ll be redoing most of the work completed in my house. Lost a lot of money in the process and hope to prevent that from happening to others.

The team that did the waterproofing of our basement was awesome!!! They were on time and very polite. They cleaned up after themselves each day they were here. They had to dig on the outside next to the house where we and you can't even tell they did. It turned out better than expected!! We had a subfloor interior drainage system installed to waterproof our basement. Castle Dream Construction did an excellent job and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. Jay and the rest of the team worked very hard to finish the job in 3.5 days. They also repaired the bottom of the stairs that had to be dismantled to make room for the excavation along the perimeter of the basement. I am confident our basement will stay dry.
